Course Description

The CMT course shall be prescribed by the department to prepare individuals for employment as certified medication technicians in intermediate care facilities and skilled nursing facilities (ICF/SNF). The program shall be designed to teach skills in medication administration of nonparental medications, which will qualify students to perform this procedure to assist licensed practical nurses (LPNs) or registered nurses (RNs) in medication therapy. To gain approval you must work in a long-term care facility, with a cmt instructor.
This is only the classroom portion of the course, there will be an 8-hour clinical portion to be complete in an approved training agency.
To gain approval to this course you must have an active CNA license for more than 6 months. You will only be approved to take this course if you work in a long-term care facility, that employees a cmt instructor.
