Missouri Certified Medication Technician (CMT):
The CMT course shall be prescribed by the department in order to prepare individuals for employment as certified medication technicians in intermediate care facilities and skilled nursing facilities (ICF/SNF). The program shall be designed to teach skills in medication administration of nonparenteral medications, which will qualify students to perform this procedure to assist licensed practical nurses (LPNs) or registered nurses (RNs) in medication therapy. This is the 60-hour classroom portion of the Certified Medication Technician program for the state of Missouri.
The student will need to be a verified and working CNA for 6 months prior to qualifying to take the course, have a GED or high school diploma and must have a pre-approval letter submitted by the administrator or DON to MANHA prior to full enrollment.
This pre-approval is required for both the student and the instructor. Contact Megan at MANHA at 573-634-5345. They will need to complete the 8 hours of clinical demonstrations in the facility with check off by an RN or CMT Instructor/Examiner (also available on-line through our courses). They are tested at the facility by the certified CMT Instructor/Examiner (a contract for doing the examinations is required).
