Course Description
The Staff Development Solutions National Nursing Home Administrator Core Examination Study Guide was developed to be utilized in collaboration with other materials and resources in preparation for your licensing exams. This study guide follows the National Administrators Board’s (NAB) Domains and Subdomains of Practice.
Each nursing home administrator must take two national examinations.
CORE: General Knowledge Examination for Senior Living and Health Services Administrators
NHA: Nursing Home Administrators Line of Service Examination
RCAL: Resident Care and Assisted Living Administrators Line of Service Examination
The first is the CORE, which is this study guide. Then the administrator choses the line of service they intend to provide as a nursing home administrator, Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) for Skilled Nursing Facilities, or Residential Care Assisted Living (RCAL). We currently have both study guides available and are working to update them consistently with the domains of practice established by NAB in 2020.
The CORE examination covers common topics within the senior living and health service continuum no matter what line of service or organization an administrator is leading. The core concepts cross all four domains and require examinees to have a broad understanding of the NAB Domains of Practice since approximately 93% of these will appear on this examination.
